Mary’s Magical Place
When Mary McAuley, a special needs child, passed away, her family, friends, and neighbors wanted to create an inclusive playground in her memory where children of all ages and abilities could play together. ForeverLawn Tennessee and other local contractors worked with the family to design and build the perfect all-inclusive playground to honor Mary. The project took three years to design and fund, and it was truly amazing to see how much the local community came together for this playground—donations from local businesses and time put in by many contractors in the area made this project possible. Fifteen thousand square feet of Playground Grass™ Ultra featuring XStatic™ antistatic technology provides a safe surface for the kids to enjoy the many different play structures and inclusive elements for children with autism, down syndrome, vision and hearing impairments, mobility issues, and sensory disorders. Just a few of these components include the Cozy Dome, Liberty Swing, “Mary” Go Round, Sway Fun, and WeeSaw. The park also features plenty of ramps that allow anyone to travel the entire expanse of the playground, ADA amenities, handicapped parking, and adult-size changing tables in the restrooms.
