Punta Gorda lifts ban on artificial turf

The city council lifted its longtime residential ban on artificial turf. City growth development managers say the benefits to the environment were the biggest factors in the policy change. Many homeowners resisted the change because of the aesthetic concerns.
Mike Onushko already has synthetic turf in his backyard. “It’s something unique,” said Onushko. “It’s something different, and the nice thing about it is the fact you’ll never have to mow it, fertilize it or water it.”
